What causes Gray Hair
Author: steve (12:00 am)
by: G Marwick
At some stage in our lives, both men and women will experience the on set of Gray Hair. Contrary to popular belief Gray hair is not always related to ones age. Gray hair can occur as young as in our teens and range into our late 50’s and even older.
Everybody is different but the pigment of our hair is generated in the same way. The cells in our hair follicles called “Melanocytes” generate pigments the main one being Melanin. This gives our hair its “Color”. When these Melanocytes stop producing the pigment the result is a transparent hair. The transparent hair against your healthier darker hair gives the appearance of Gray hair. In reality the hair is not Gray but transparent.
The main reason for our hair behaving this way is heredity. If your mom or dad started going Gray at a young age then the chances are you may also suffer from premature Gray hair. This is not always the case. Age does play a large part in the graying process. The pigment in the hair shaft is generated from cells at the base of the root of the hair and as we get older these cells start producing less pigment until there is no pigment at all in the hair and we end up with the transparent hair.
Gray hair can also be the result of a medical condition. If you are deficient in B12 or suffer from a thyroid imbalance it can also cause your hair to go Gray.
The sudden appearance of Gray hair is not due to psychological shock or trauma. Studies have shown that if this does happen then it’s typically due to Alopecia areata. What happens here is that the thicker, darker hairs stop growing before it effects the growth of Gray hairs, giving the impression of Gray hair overnight. Alopecia areata eventually causes round shaped patches of hair loss or complete hair loss.

Use of mini and micro grafts in hair transplant surgery
Author: steve (11:50 pm)
by: Ben Stewart
Apart from the treatment of male and female pattern baldness hair loss, hair transplant surgery using micro and mini grafts are now widely used in hair transplant repair procedures and reconstructive surgical hair restoration procedures. With the increased use of micro and mini grafts along with the single hair unit follicular transplants, the reconstructive hair transplant surgeries now account for approximately 8-10% of the total hair restoration surgeries.
Because of their small size, the micro and mini-grafts have lower metabolic requirement than the plug grafts and have better survival rate than the follicular units, which can be damaged during dissection.Since these grafts are able to successfully grow on burnt scalp or fibroid areas, they seem to hold a high promise for the reconstructive hair transplant surgeries.
Only precautions that hair transplant surgery with these mini and micro grafts is that the dissected mini and micro grafts are to be inserted into the scalp as fast as possible after a silt is made.Transplanting of the grafts in the shortest possible time increases the chances of the hair follicles surviving the hair transplant procedures and actually grow into hair. To hasten up the above mentioned hair transplant surgery procedure, help from the assistant is taken who
immediately inserts a graft into the slit as soon as it is created by
the hair transplant surgeon. The blades used for the surgery
are so small and sharp they leave almost no detectable scar on the scalp.
Hair Transplant Surgery: Hair Restoration on the Face
Hair transplant surgery procedure for hair restoration of the face
(eyebrows, mustache, and sideburns) is more difficult and different.
If a hair transplant surgeon makes slits near other grafts,
the neighboring grafts tend to “pop out” of their corresponding slits.
Hair transplant surgeon in such cases makes the slits in a preliminary
fashion, with the grafts inserted a few minutes later.. The rest of
Hair Transplant Surgery procedure is just the same, when the hair
transplant surgeon withdraws his needle, an assistant implants the
graft with a jeweler’s forceps. An experienced hair transplant surgeon
always pays close attention to the natural direction of the growth
while performing a reconstructive hair transplant surgery,
and takes care to insert his blade or the needle at acute angle
lateral to the eye brows.
For a successful reconstructive surgery the restoring the natural
direction of the growth for the restored hair is more important
than the number of hair. For the hair loss restoration of beard and
mustache, a hair transplant surgeon keeps his blade as flat as
possible to the surface of lip so as to ensure the downward
direction of growth.
On eyelids, the hair transplant procedure is more complicated
because the eyelids are very thin, mobile and very adjacent
to the eye. The most difficult aspect of the hair transplant
surgery in this case is maintaining the direction of hair growth.
Usually the eyebrow hair is used as the donor hair, and around
10-12 micro-grafts are inserted per eyelid in two separate
sessions of hair restoration surgery performed with a gap of
about 8-12 months between them. The use of a curved needle
for the eyelid hair restoration is the new innovative technique
that hair restoration surgeons have started making use for the ease of
hair transplant surgery.
Proper preservation of these micro and mini-grafts are throughout
the course of hair transplant surgery is of utmost importance.
The grafts are kept in Petri-plates filled with saline so as to keep
them moist. During long procedures taking more than 3-4 hours,
the Petri-dishes with these grafts in saline are stored over a
basin filled with ice.
A procedure, which holds good for any hair transplant surgery,
is the technique of inserting the grafts in way so as to leave
the epidermis of the graft superficial to the epidermis of the recipient
site. The aim of this
hair transplant surgery procedure is to prevent the formation of inclusion cyst at the insertion points and also to prevent in-growth of hair. After any hair transplant surgery, the grafts look like bumps. After healing, the epidermis
of the grafts starts turning into a crust and takes about 10 to 14 days to
finally shed. The transplanted area now becomes smooth as before.
The hair growth on the recipient area is seen only after 3 to 4 months. But once the growth becomes evident it continues to improve
over the next few months.
The recent advances like the use of mini and micro grafts and
follicular unit transplants have greatly improved the aesthetics
of hair transplant surgery. Hair transplant surgery has proved to be a
boon in restoring hair on burnt scalps or in congenital deformities such as cleft lips etc.

Understanding Male Hair Loss
Author: steve (11:40 pm)
by: Carlo Morelli
Male Hair loss, also known as male pattern baldness, is medically referred to as “Androgenic Alopecia”. Male hair loss can affect a person at any time after puberty. The hair usually recedes in a pattern like the letter “M” and the crown hair becomes thinner as age advances.
Hair loss is common in both men and women, but a lot more men suffer from hair loss than women. Treatment of male hair loss differs from female hair loss treatment. Propecia is a good example for a male hair loss product that should not be used by women.. If a woman is pregnant Propecia may injure the baby in the womb. Propecia will also cause hair growth on parts of the body where women do not normally want to have hair, like the upper lip and chin.
Male hair loss treatment with Propecia may have some side effects, including impotency and lack of sex drive, so consult your physician before taking this medicine.
Another treatment is Rogaine. In it’s early days, Rogaine was used to treat high blood pressure, but now it is primarily used to stop hair loss. Rogaine should be used continuously for three to four months to have fruitful results.
In order to prevent hair loss there are many products available on the market. One of the most important ingredients, which prevent hair loss is saw palmetto. It is clearly evident that saw palmetto blocks DHTs and is a natural medication. A product called Hair Genesis consists of saw palmetto and is extensively used to cure hair loss.
Hair energizer hair products by Ferm-T are also being used for treating hair loss. Even women can use this product without any side effect. The Hair energizer helps to stop hair thinning and hair loss. The Hair Energizer kit comes with a bottle of Follicle spray, 15 ml tube Jojoba oil, a bottle of shampoo, and 60 tablets of vitamins & minerals. Advecia, another product helps a lot to treat hair loss. It is essential for revitalizing the hair follicles. This is useful in treating the follicles, which are deprived of nutrients.

Scope of laser surgery as a hair transplant procedure
Author: steve (11:30 pm)
by: Ben Stewart
For some people, the word laser surgery is synonymous wit the word “state-of-the-art”. With laser surgery permeating almost any branch of surgery it is not very uncommon to think so. Though laser surgery has shown much promise in other branches of surgery the scene with hair transplant surgery is entirely different.
Not only is laser hair transplant inappropriate for
Follicular Unit Transplantation, it is actually detrimental even with different modification of procedure and use of different laser hair settings. Let’s see the rationale behind the difference between hair transplant surgeries and other surgeries where the use of laser has been of much advantage.
The value of laser surgery lies in its properties of “selective photo-thermolysis” (this is the ability to destroy a specific target without injuring the surrounding tissue). Hair transplant surgery is different in this regard from other surgeries because of the lack of a target tissue. And when one is using laser hair transplant surgery for channel creation for inserting the grafts, it is actually making use of destructive properties of the laser. The laser hair restoration surgery literally burns a recipient hole in the skin. The tall claims made by laser companies for a new class of laser causing no thermal damage, is anything but true. Regardless of the source and the type, a laser is something which causes thermal damage to the tissue by its high energy. The laser hair restoration technique always leaves surface change and scarring. Not only this, high energy laser beams used for laser hair transplant may damage hairs existing near the implant site because of burning of the surrounding tissue. But at the same time it is important to keep in mind the use of laser for hair removal is a different case altogether. Since here the destructive property of laser is put to use, it can be a good option being painless and fast.
There is another drawback of laser hair transplant surgery which is more critical. The high energy of laser beam leads to the closing of the blood vessels. This characteristic feature of the laser beam is useful in other type of surgery where it helps to close wounds and provides quick healing. But in case of hair transplant surgery, blood supply is very crucial for nourishing the grafts after they are transplanted. And this is the main concern about a laser hair transplant surgery. Laser assisted transplants either are not able to grow or heal more slowly to have unpredictable growth due to impaired blood flow.
The thermal damage caused by the laser hair restoration to the surrounding tissue destroys the collagen and weakens the elastic support around the newly transplanted grafts. It also increases the coagulum (clot) around the graft which, in turn, decreases oxygen perfusion and retards healing. The uniformly created channels created by laser hair transplant surgery lose all its promise when the laser “loosens” the “snug fit” between the transplanted graft and recipient site. And this is the reason why laser hair restoration results in unpredicted and slow growth of the hair follicle.
The advantage of laser towards decreasing bleeding at the recipient site is also not of much use in case of
hair transplant surgery. A hair transplantation surgeon can decrease bleeding by the use of precision instruments and better hair transplant procedures more effectively than using a laser beam.
Regardless the hair transplant procedure a hair transplant doctor uses, maximizing the growth of a transplant is the one and only aim of any hair transplant surgery. And whatever is the type of implanted graft, whether it is a single follicular units or a group of follicular units, restoring the blood supply to the graft is of utmost importance. And since the laser hair transplant surgery fails to accomplish the vital function of restoring the blood flow, it is to be simply ignored as a hair transplant procedure.
There are many hair transplant centers which boast of laser hair transplant as a painless procedure or as a fast process for hair transplant surgery, are to be totally dismissed. This is an important piece of information which can save you from a fraudulent hair transplant center if you are planning to have a hair transplant surgery done. But before you visit a
hair transplant clinic find some time to visit the site hairttransplantadvice.com and make an informed decision.

Latest techniques deliver painless hair transplants.
Author: steve (11:20 pm)
by: Richard Mitchell
The recent development of improved hair transplant techniques ensures that patients can now benefit from pain-free surgery.
Unlike the older techniques that could be painful and cause unsightly scarring, the Woods Technique of Follicular Relocation is minimally invasive, painless and leads to hair restoration that looks and feels completely natural.
Under this technique physicians transplant only the hair follicle and not the excess tissue that is common with other transplant techniques. This means that the transplant site only has to nourish the essential follicles resulting in a higher take rate and a lower risk of fallout caused by localized shock.
The creators of the technique have been perfecting it in Australia since 1989 during which time more than 2000 procedures have been performed with a high success rate. Interestingly, Drs Woods and Woods-Campbell have made the discovery that transplanted body hair can grow up to three times its length and assume the characteristics and qualities of scalp hair. This means that patients who have damaged or depleted donor areas can now benefit from the technique.
The good news for American patients is that the technique is now being introduced to the US with a training facility for doctors established at UCLA.

How Hair Transplant Surgery is Performed
Author: steve (11:00 pm)
by: John Mancini
Are you starting to bald? Are you thinking about having a hair transplant performed, but you don’t know enough about it? If you are, you are not alone. More and more people are electing to have this treatment performed every year. For those who are interested, but need more information, the following will provide what you are looking for.
The scalp then gets sutured or stapled together and the donor hairs are given to technicians. The technicians remove each individual hair follicle and place them into a saline solution where they will await transplant. In the mean time, the surgeon is busy cutting small incisions into the front of the head within the hairline that was drawn earlier. There needs to be a separate incision for every follicle that is to be transplanted. This number can be as high as 2,000 per transplant.
In about a week or so, the incisions have started to heal, the scabs have fallen off, however, it will take up to a year for real hair growth to appear. In order to avoid further hair transplant procedures from needing to be performed, it is recommended that the patient use a drug such as Propecia. The continued use of this drug will help to minimize the need for another surgery.
The first step involved in a hair transplant is for the surgeon to draw a replacement hairline for the patient. Then the scalp is numbed and the donor hairs, usually from the back of the head, are shaved. Once this is completed, the skin that the donor hairs are attached to is removed from the head.
As a man ages, he looses hair. There is not much that can be done to stop this from happening. There are topical and oral drugs that can be taken to slow the process, but if they are stopped, the hair loss resumes. A person can use cover ups such as toupees or hair weaves, but they really do not look very natural. Enter the hair transplant surgery. This surgery utilizes hair from the body (normally the back of the head) that is not programmed to fall out to replace the missing follicles. But how do they do it?

Hair transplants, there aren’t what they used to be!
Author: steve (10:20 pm)
by: Amy-Jo Strutt
There is nothing more heartbreaking than looking in the mirror and discovering that your hair is thinning, even worse, you are going bald. This just doesn’t happen to men either. There are a larger percentage of women that experience thinning of the hair, and on the odd occasion, baldness. If going bald really bothers you, you do have some options you can consider. One option is hair transplant surgery. No, we don’t mean those awful hair plugs used 15 year ago. Hair transplant procedures have gotten much better and today, surgeons can create a full, natural looking head of hair.
For most men, baldness starts with a receding hairline. This most often leads to what is referred to male pattern baldness. Hair is lost at the front and on the top of the head, leaving a fringe of hair around the sides. Hair transplant surgery is often performed to restore hair that is thinning at the crown and temples. The procedure works like this. Good, quality hair follicles are taken from the donor site which is most often located at the back of the head where hair tends to stay thick and healthy. The surgeon harvests one hair at a time and surgically implants it in the area of thinning or baldness. The process is slow, but the results are truly amazing. Surgeons are getting extremely good at creating natural looking hairlines.
Hair transplant surgery continues to evolve and get more sophisticated. Because this is a challenging process, it is not cheap. Most surgeons will hold a consultation with you so that they understand your expectations and you understand what they can achieve. Their goal is always to create a natural looking, full head of hair. Hair transplant procedures are not extremely painful, but expect some mild pain and swelling. The first several weeks after you have hair transplants you must treat you hair very well to ensure you don’t damage any of the transplants before they take hold and start to grow again. If this is something you are considering, speak to your doctor to get more information.

Hair Transplant Surgery - Do You Need It, Do You Want It?
Author: steve (10:10 pm)
by: Peter Crump
Hair transplant surgery is very common these days. As hair loss is such a big problem for so many people, and as hair transplant surgery becomes more and more effective, it is more in demand.
However hair transplant surgery is usually the last in the list of things that you need to consider if you are suffering from hair loss.
For those who are suffering from some degree of hair loss there are some steps you need to take before you consider hair transplant surgery. Hair loss is not necessarily permanent, and the very first thing that you need to do is to consult your doctor and find out a specific cause.
Hair loss can be temporary. For example there are various medical conditions and medical treatments which can cause hair loss and once these conditions have been treated or the treatments stopped the hair recovers. No need for hair transplant surgery there.
And where you have a diagnosed hair loss condition that may well be permanent, such as male pattern baldness, or permanent hereditary hair loss, there can still be some other options to consider.
The first option is to do nothing. Don’t laugh. Hair replacement treatments, and particularly hair transplant surgery, can be exceedingly expensive. They can have some side effects and can be unpleasant. Sometimes they don’t work, or are unsuitable for your particular condition. Doing nothing about it is a very viable option and one that any proficient professional should counsel you about.
Baldness is becoming fashionable. Perhaps it started with Yul Brinner, who knows, but there are some who deliberately shave their heads as a fashion statement. You don’t need to go that far, although you could also consider that, but you certainly could consider living with it.
Work out how much effort and money you are prepared to expend on doing something about it. Hair transplant surgery is very expensive and hair loss is not really considered a disease so government or private medical funds may not cover the cost. Check that out.
Next find out about the pharmaceutical hair replacement products. There are several which do work, although not for everybody. Check them out. Find out more. They also have their drawbacks, but you should educate yourself about all options.
But for many this process still leads them to hair transplant surgery. There is no doubt that if you have hair transplant surgery done by a reputable hair transplant centre it can be very effective.
There are positives and negatives to hair transplant surgery. As previously stated, it can be expensive. It is a long process, over many months, requiring repeated visits, and it is surgery, with the normal, though low, risks attached to any surgery. And it doesn’t suit everybody, depending on the nature of your problem.
On the other hand hair transplant surgery, once it is over, is very effective in most cases. You end up growing your own hair and the result is permanent. The final effect, which takes around 12 months, can be extremely effective.
There are various types of hair transplant surgery available at various hair transplant centres. If you have spent some time thinking about your options and have finally come to the conclusion that hair transplant surgery is for you then take the next step.
Visit a reputable hair transplant centre or find one on the internet and find out more about hair transplant surgery. The results can be life transforming.

Hair Transplant - For Self-Image
Author: steve (10:00 pm)
by: Ken Snoddy
Hair transplant is one way that many are gaining their self-esteem back. Self-Image is a very important thing to have. To an extent, it dictates where you are going in life. Your self-image is made up of more than just your physical appearance, but that is a major component. If it takes hair transplant to get you back on a positive attitude in that regard, then you should do it.
Some men are perfectly content with less hair than they once had. Some are even lucky enough to look good bald. Unfortunately, these are the few. The rest of the many people who are losing their hair are losing their looks and confidence too. When you have plenty of confidence, you show it. People know that you mean business and that you expect to get what you want and need. And you usually do. However, when you walk into a place worrying how you look, or doubting yourself, you aren’t likely to project a strong image. And you are much less likely to get what you need, want, and deserve. This is why many people turn to hair transplant options.
If having a full head of hair again will give you that confidence you need to get around in life, then you should pursue it. Not for anyone else, but for you. Before you decide to do hair transplant, you should look at your options. If a wig is all you need, more power to you. However, many wigs look way to obvious to do a lot of good in this area. You can also talk to your doctor about treatments for natural hair re-growth. However, make sure that you understand all possible side-effects before you start taking it.
When all else fails, there are hair transplant options. And thanks to modern technology, it is actually possible without scarring. But before you commit, make sure that you know what you are getting yourself into. Find out what can go wrong, and what your chances are. Also ask about how long the procedures will take and any recovery times. Be informed.
Next, you should find out who you want to do it. Look at people who do hair transplant options and find out about them. You can even go visit with them and ask to see previous work that they have done if they have it available. If you know anyone who has had it done, see who they would or wouldn’t recommend. After you have all the information that you can get, go and retrieve your self-confidence with hair transplant technology.

Hair Removal Methods, Remove Facial Hair
Author: steve (9:40 pm)
by: John Lim
Top Hair Removal Methods For Women - Discover The Various Ways To Remove Facial Hair Effectively.
There are many hair removal methods for women to choose from. Some hair removal methods have been around for thousands of years, some are new to the market, some hurt, and some don’t.
Hair removal is tricky, and no hair removal methods or products are perfect for every job, but there are tricks that will remove facial hair in easier and more affordable ways.
Hair Removal Method 1 - Tweezing
Some women choose to tweeze unwanted hairs, but this is not one of the ideal hair removal methods because repeated plucking can cause irritation of the hair follicle. For darker-skinned women, this hair removal method may result in scarring. Also, hair will grow back thicker and stiffer once it’s plucked. Hence the aim of removing facial hair for a longer period of time does not work. Unless you have just a few stray hairs that occasionally pop up, avoid tweezing unwanted hair.
Hair Removal Method 2 - Depilatory creams
These cream dissolve hair at the base of the follicle. This hair removal method is ideal for widespread areas like the legs, but can be problematic when used on the face because they irritate the skin and often remove facial hair cleanly. Depilatory creams are relatively inexpensive but results from this hair removal method will last for one to two weeks before you’ll need to look at it again.
Hair Removal Method 3 - Waxing
This is one of the most popular hair removal methods. Generally, it’s an effective method to remove facial hair on the upper lip and fine hair on the sides of the face. But it’s not recommended for the chin area where hair tends to be coarser. Waxing may also be problematic for darker-skinned women. They sometimes experience discoloration due to irritation and inflammation in their attempt to remove facial hair. Depending on the type of hair you have, waxing results should last from two to six weeks.
Hair Removal Method 4 - Laser
Laser hair removal must be done by a licensed professional. It can be expensive and time-consuming, but the results may not be permanent. It is best to discuss with a professional. You can find one by looking in the yellow pages.
Hair Removal Method 5 - Threading
Threading is the ideal facial hair removal alternative to waxing, depilatory creams, tweezing or laser, especially if you have sensitive skin. Unlike other hair removal methods, irritation and skin rashes cab be avoided as the top layer of your skin is not stripped off in the process. Since threading is a completely natural skin removal process, it works on all skin types for a hairless face - whether you have normal skin, sensitive skin, tanned or damaged skin.
