Your guide to hair loss prevention
Author: steve (7:30 am)
by: Amy-Jo Strutt
If you are going bald or notice that your hair is starting to thin, there are a number of excellent hair loss prevention measures you can take to stop the thinning and hair loss. Hair loss is caused by a number of things and some of them you have complete control over. Hair loss can be a result of stress. Is this the reason your hair is falling out? If so, you need to seek help immediately. This type of hair loss is often not permanent if you catch it in time. Another reason for thinning hair is a lack of important vitamins and minerals from the foods you are eating. You can restore your hair by changing your diet and getting enough fruits and leafy green vegetables daily. With either of these cases, you need to speak to your doctor immediately.
If your hair loss is due to genetics, which is most often the case, your hair loss is likely permanent. But that doesn’t mean you don’t have any options. You have a number of them to consider. Hair transplants are getting more popular because of the advancements made with the technology. In the past, hair plugs were used and they looked unnatural and didn’t do a great job filling in the hair. Today, hair transplant surgery is extremely good at creating a natural head of hair that is full. If you aren’t up for surgery, you can choose non surgical procedures such as hair weaves. This is where natural or synthetic hair is woven in with your own creating the appearance of a full head of hair.
Rogaine is another hair loss prevention alternative to consider. It is a topical cream that is applied directly to your scalp. Within 6 months, you will see new hair growth. The downside is once you stop applying Rogaine, you will likely loss the new hair. There are other hair loss drugs on the market, each with its own side effects. Manufacturers are making hair shampoos specifically for thinning hair. There are gentler on your hair and help create a fuller looking head of hair when it is dry. Be sure to check these out at your local pharmacy. For best results, speak to your doctor so that you understand all the options available to you based on your type of hair loss.

You Need To Know The Possible Hair Loss Causes
Author: steve (7:00 am)
by: Peter Crump
Hair loss causes range from simple to complex. Some of the simple causes of hair loss include recovery from major surgery. Such invasive medical treatments cause trauma to the hair follicles and large clumps of hair often come out when you are grooming your hair. Your doctor will advise you that this is normal and your hair growth will return to normal, but it could take 3 or 4 months. Since you know it is only temporary, these hair loss causes should not be a major cause for alarm.
Other hair loss causes from medical treatments include the effects of chemotherapy and the side effects of many antibiotics. The fact that you will lose your hair with many of these drugs is common knowledge and once the regimen of treatment is finished, your hair will start to grow back. Thinning hair causes, for people who are not taking medications, can include a lack or the proper nutrients, lack of sleep and not taking proper care of your hair.
Hormones are also thinning hair causes as well. An underactive or overactive thyroid gland can cause hair loss, but once again these hair loss causes respond well to the proper medication. If your male or female hormones become unbalanced, this can also lead to thinning hair or loss of hair. Once you contact your doctor to find out what is happening and you start a regular hormone treatment, you will start to regain your full head of hair. Having a baby is also one of the leading hair loss causes for women, especially if the birth process was traumatic. Pregnancy causes changes in the body’s hormones and once they return to normal following birth, the hair growth process returns to normal as well.
Some of the medicines that have been identified as thinning hair causes include:
·Blood thinners for heart disease
·Medication for gout
·Too much Vitamin A
·Anti-depressants
·Birth control pills
Infections, especially in children, are also possible hair loss causes. Many children get fungal infections of the scalp and they cause the hair to start thinning and falling out. The doctor can prescribe anti-fungal medications to help clear up the infection and prevent further hair thinning and loss. Diabetes and lupus are also diseases that cause hair loss. Since hair loss is often a warning sign of a disease, it is important to contact your doctor to find out the reason and what you can do to keep it under control. People look at their hair as their most important asset and should do everything they can to protect it.
Hair loss causes can be many and varied. If you are suffering then you need to find out the cause of your hair loss before you consider doing anything else.

What! Female Hair Loss Treatments!
Author: steve (6:45 am)
by: Peter Crump
Many people think that hair loss is a male problem, but it is one that many females suffer from as well. Hair loss is a very traumatic experience for a woman, even though it perfectly natural to lose your hair as you get older. When young women start to experience hair loss, they start to research the kinds of female hair loss treatments that are available to them. The treatment they find depends on what is causing the hairloss to occur in the first place. Some of the causes may be stress or hormonal changes. In these cases the doctor can easily prescribe female hair loss treatments that have nothing to do with hair growth.
New hair loss treatments are coming on the market all the time, but their validity has yet to be determined. Scientists will tell you that many of the so-called new hair loss treatments may not work for you. Since every person is unique and the reasons for hair loss vary from person to person, there are no one kind of female hair loss treatments that work for everybody.
With the doctor prescribed hair loss treatments for women, the one that has had the most success is a topical solution containing 2% Minoxodil. New hair loss treatments containing higher percentages are still being tested to see if they are suitable for females to use. Female hairloss treatments sometimes vary to male hair loss treatments.
Another of the new hair loss treatments available for men is a hair growth pill. This is not being considered as one of the female hair loss treatments because of the possibility that it may cause birth defects. Pregnant or nursing mothers should never use the prescribed treatments for hair loss because it is not known what effect it could have on an unborn or newborn baby.
Many women are turning to aromatherapy as female hairloss treatments. Some essential oils are said to be beneficial in controlling hair loss. In a study conducted with females experiencing hair loss a blend of essential oils was used as a topical solution for the scalp, The results of this new hair loss treatment were very promising, with 44% showing marked improvement after seven months of the treatment. With aromatherapy oils, as with all other female hairloss treatments, once you stop using them so does the hair growth.
Female hair loss treatments often vary from male hair loss treatments, depending on the cause of the hair loss.

What is the Cause of Hair Loss?
Author: steve (5:45 am)
by: William R. Nabaza of http://www.nabaza.com/beauty.htm
For decades men, women and even children have had to stand the embarasment caused by hair loss. There are number for reasons for hair loss. Let us have a quick discussion on “What is the cause hair loss?”
There are so many causes for hair loss. When we say “hair loss” most of you may think about the usual types of hair loss, which includes male pattern baldness, female pattern baldness, and even alopecia areata.. But there are so many other reasons for hair loss.
Before knowing the factors that may cause hair loss, we should know the normal hair shedding process. Do you know about 10% of our hair is shedding daily at a given time? Hair losing at this level is a normal phenomenon. If the hair falling percentage exceeds the ten percent, then it is an alarming problem.
If you have undergone any surgery or any sort of illness, then it may cause hair loss. This is mainly due to the amount of stress you have acquired due to the operation and also the side effect of the medication you have taken for preventing infection during your illness.
Sometimes hormone problem may also cause hair loss. During the hormonal imbalance, you may experience hair loss. This can easily be corrected by injecting appropriate hormones to correct the imbalance.
Pregnancy may also cause hair loss. Hair loss is noticed among the pregnant women even after delivery.. This is also related to hormones. In this condition, there is no need to worry because the hair regrowth will be back to normal after some months.
In addition to all these factors, one important factor that may cause hair loss is how you wear your hair. In case if you are a woman and having a tendency of wearing your hair in tight fashion, then you might suffer from hair loss.
Some medicines, which may cause hair loss irrespective of sex, are anticoagulants, wincrysticin or onchocryticin (Cancer medication), medicines used for gout, birth control pills, antidepressants and Vitamin A (if it is taken in excessive amount). Sulpha drugs may cause hair loss as well.
Sometimes underlying diseases such as lupus or diabetes may also cause hair loss. Hence it is very important to detect the cause for hair loss as early as possible to stop the hair falling. Once you have lost so much hair it is very difficult to treat the condition because prevention is better than cure.
As you have gone through these factors which may cause hair loss, it is clearly evident that there are so many reasons for hair loss and surprisingly in some cases the hair is growing back. Hence don’t worry about the hair loss and also do not panic too much because panic itself may cause hair loss!

What are the Best Hair Loss Products Available Today?
Author: steve (5:15 am)
by: Susan Chiang
Nowadays hair loss is a very common problem not only among males but among females too. Hair loss is a source of great anxiety for many, directly affecting their self-confidence and causing feelings of mental and emotional humiliation. With such a high level of anxiety among hair loss sufferers, it is only natural that the hair loss market be filled with a wide selection of effective and not so effective hair loss products.
There are plenty of effective hair loss products and hair regrowth products to choose from, such as natural essential oils, natural herbs, conventional drugs, shampoos, serums, lotions and conditioners.
Finasteride, Minoxidil, and Rogaine are the more popular hair loss drug products available today to stop or prevent hair loss. Finasteride is sold in pharmacies as Propecia, and this hair loss product is recommended only for men. Like Finasteride, Rogaine is available only through drugstores. Rogaine has to be applied twice daily for 3 to 4 months to get any positive results. Minoxidil is a common and effective hair loss treatment method among younger men. However, continual use of hair loss drug products such as Minoxidil may lead to side effects such as a itchy scalp, or even more serious complications such as low libido if these hair loss treatment products are used over a long period of time.
With these possible side effects linked to hair loss drug products, more and more hair loss sufferers are turning to natural hair loss remedies to prevent or stop hair loss. Dr Proctor, Thymuskin, Viviscal, Hair Genesis, Revivogen, Tricomin, and Nisim products are just some examples of the best hair loss products available on the market.
Dr. Proctor’s Hair Regrowth shampoo is one of the more popular natural hair loss products, as it has no chemical ingredient. Its Regrowth shampoo is widely used by hair loss sufferers due to its easy application, while its Life Extension Shampoo supports healthy hair.
Thymuskin is more effective (95%) in female than male (67%) for treating hair loss. This hair loss shampoo clears the hair follicle of debris, dirt, oil and other waste. It consists of thymus peptides that diffuse deep into the hair follicles to clean them.
Viviscal shampoo helps to maintain healthy hair. Apart from this, the shampoo treats hair loss and hair thinning. Viviscal products are available in all forms including scalp lotion, conditioner and tablets.
Hair Genesis products are also available as conditioners, topical serums, oral supplements, and hair regrowth shampoo. Hair Genesis is especially favoured by women, and it works mainly by stopping the DHT blockers.

Understanding The Male Hair Loss Dilemna
Author: steve (4:00 am)
by: Lyne Doxley
Male Hair loss, also known as male pattern baldness, is medically referred to as “Androgenic Alopecia”. Male hair loss can affect a person at any time after puberty. The hair usually recedes in a pattern like the letter “M” and the crown hair becomes thinner as age advances.
Hair loss is common in both men and women, but a lot more men suffer from hair loss than women. Treatment of male hair loss differs from female hair loss treatment. Propecia is a good example for a male hair loss product that should not be used by women.. If a woman is pregnant Propecia may injure the baby in the womb. Propecia will also cause hair growth on parts of the body where women do not normally want to have hair, like the upper lip and chin.
Male hair loss treatment with Propecia may have some side effects, including impotency and lack of sex drive, so consult your physician before taking this medicine.
Another treatment is Rogaine. In it’s early days, Rogaine was used to treat high blood pressure, but now it is primarily used to stop hair loss. Rogaine should be used continuously for three to four months to have fruitful results.
In order to prevent hair loss there are many products available on the market. One of the most important ingredients, which prevent hair loss is saw palmetto. It is clearly evident that saw palmetto blocks DHTs and is a natural medication. A product called Hair Genesis consists of saw palmetto and is extensively used to cure hair loss.
Hair energizer hair products by Ferm-T are also being used for treating hair loss. Even women can use this product without any side effect. The Hair energizer helps to stop hair thinning and hair loss. The Hair Energizer kit comes with a bottle of Follicle spray, 15 ml tube Jojoba oil, a bottle of shampoo, and 60 tablets of vitamins & minerals. Advecia, another product helps a lot to treat hair loss. It is essential for revitalizing the hair follicles. This is useful in treating the follicles, which are deprived of nutrients.

Understanding Normal Hair Loss
Author: steve (3:46 am)
by: William R. Nabaza of http://www.nabaza.com/beauty.htm
Before having a look at the term “normal hair loss” we should have a look at “hair” in general. An average head consists of 100,000 to 150,000 hair, which grows ½ an inch every month. Hair is growing due to rapid cell division at the base of the follicle and gets pigmented when it is pushed upwards out of the follicle.
Normal hair loss or alopecia, is a part of the natural hair life cycle. Normal hair loss is caused by genetic factors, androgens and age. Other factors include general bad health, side effects of medications, and skin diseases.
Hair loss may result from heredity. Millions of men, women and children are confronted with hair loss due to heredity. It is important to know that every day an individual sheds 100 to 300 hairs daily as a natural process. Each and every hair undergoes the hair growth cycle before normal hair loss occurs. The normal growth cycle consists of three stages:,
· Anagen stage
· Catagen stage
· Telogen stage
Anagen stage
hair will stay in this phase for two to four years. Each hair will grow 15 cm per year.
Catagen phase
In this transition phase, the hair spends two to four weeks.
Telogen phase
The telogen phase is also called the resting phase. This phase lasts about three months allowing the hair to detach itself prior to falling out.
In case of normal hair loss, there is no need to panic. But if there is an excessive hair loss, it should immediately be discussed with your physician. Treatments that are available depend on the type of hair loss. Sometimes correcting hormone imbalance may prevent further hair loss. Rogaine (Minoxidil) will help to correct common baldness
An individual will lose 100 hair per day and hair rubbing, too much brushing or excessive washing may result in an increase of hair loss. Losing 100 hair per day is conisdered absolutely normal! Normal hair loss may increase as age advances. Male pattern baldness is a normal hair loss, which is genetically predetermined.
In case if you are an individual of above 30 years and you begin to lose scalp hair, then the chances are 95% that it is normal hair loss.

In early days, Rogaine was used to treat high blood pressure, but now it is primarily used to stop hair loss. Rogaine should be used continuously for three to four months to have some fruitful results.
The reason formale hair loss is mainly due to the levels of DHT (Dihydro testosterone) in the scalp. The DHT is present in a person immediately after his puberty and the purpose of DHT is to develop secondary sexual characteristics. DHT gets attached to the hair follicle and prevents the assimilation of nutrients to the follicles which in turn cause thinning out of hair and finally shedding of hair which results in hair loss.
In order to prevent hair loss there are many products available on the market. The most important ingredients, which prevent hair loss is saw palmetto. Understanding And Preventing Hair Loss
Author: steve (2:45 am)
by: Kathlene Capelle
Noticed more fallen hair collecting on the drain stopper in your shower room?
Or do you suspect that more hair has been left in your brush than is normally the case?
Been sweeping up more strands of hair all over your house?
Getting worried? Although hair is not essential for survival, the lack of hair can affect one’s self confidence in today’s environment. And no wonder! We are bombarded with a constant stream of advertisements sponsored by beauty salons, hair care products and hair loss treatments on looking good through a crop of beautiful hair. So if we start to lose hair, we can become really self conscious about our looks.
Our hair become stressed with over exposure to the sun, frequent hair blow drying and repeated perming, rebonding and hair colour treatments. The hair becomes dry and brittle and break off very easily. Tying hair too tightly can also cause hair breakage. Illnesses like low thyroid hormones are additional factors resulting in hair loss.
Hair loss is also known as alopecia. About 100 strands of hair out of a normal scalp of 100,000 hairs are lost daily. Any hair loss of more than 100 strands of hair per day warrants a case for concern.
The lifespan of a single hair strand is about 5 years. Genetic baldness is caused when the body fails to replace hair that has fallen off. Familial history may determine if hair loss is going to occur and women’s hair does thin with age as well. Temporary hair loss in post-pregnancy cases and lifestyle changes are additional explanations for hair loss.
A hair loss remedy can be through taking oral pills or through hair loss products applied directly to the hair. Other hair loss solutions include vitamin supplements, herbal cures, scalp treatments and hair transplants. A good understanding of what causes the hair loss in the first place can help us decide what best solution to take.
In the meantime, if you have a family history of balding genes, take preventive hair loss measures. Simple procedures like using a mild shampoo and conditioner, and gentle brushing or combing would really help for good hair structure and a healthier crop!

Thinning Hair - A Bald Fact
Author: steve (1:15 am)
by: Sharon Hopkins
As you grow older, not only do you grow wiser but as a sign of wisdom, you start losing your hair. Thin hair has been the result of time. But other factors like heredity, modern hair styling treatments like perming, bleaching, coloring etc. have also led to thin hair. Bad diets and stress also have an adverse effect on the thickness of hair.
The following tips give you some advice on how to control hair thinning problems:
* Color your hair: When you color your hair, they appear thicker since the process actually roughs up the hair. It is easier to give the appearance of fullness since the hair strands slide one another and lie flat against each other. Use lighter colors since they hide the scalp very easily.
* Choose a curly look: When you curl your hair, they appear fuller since the wavy look alters the surface of the hair.
* Blow-dry your hair: Blow drying the hair will make the hair two to three times thicker without harming the scalp. It plumps up the hair so that they look higher. But keep the dryer two to three times away from the hair to avoid causing excessive dryness. Also, use a conditioner after shampoo if you tend to blow dry your hair regularly.
* Use protein shampoo daily: When you wash your hair daily, the hair oils are removed, it gives the hair more body so that it looks thicker than the normal. Using shampoos with hydrolyzed animal proteins, also called thickeners, they give the hair more diameter. They coat the hair so that each shaft appears two to three times fuller than usual. Also, the hair appears fluffy and hence, looks fuller.
* Try a kitchen conditioner: Mix a tablespoon of white vinegar with a pint of water and massage onto the hair after shampooing. Vinegar changes the chemical balance of the hair to acidic and thus gives a full appearance to thinning hair.
* Use eggs: Crack an egg over the hair before shampooing. Massage it for five minutes and then rinse out. It has the same effect as protein shampoos as egg is an animal protein.
* Use minimal commercial conditioners: Usually, conditioners are used to give the volume to the hair. But people use quantities more than required and thus give the hair a limp look. Always use a teaspoon of conditioner for every wash.
* Use mousse: before going out, always style your hair with mousse to make the hair appear fuller. Since mousse contains resins, they coat the hair and add diameter to it. It lifts the hair off the scalp and gives it a fuller appearance.
